Surely everyone here can think of one or more. A TV show or movie moment that scared the absolute doodoo out of you as a kid. I'm convinced that you wouldn’t have had a decent childhood if you didn’t. I have a few of them, some I didn’t remember until last night. After taking a long break from Medium, random traumatizing memories have inspired this article…you’re welcome.

Punky Brewster: The Perils of Punky Part 1 & 2 (1985)

I was lying in bed, letting my mind bounce around as it usually does, until this random memory popped up in my head about this TV show I watched as a youngin’. Punky Brewster. This show was definitely one of the highlights of my childhood. If you need a refresher, take a look at this short intro to the show.

So many good vibes, lessons to be learned about life, and laughs, UNTIL…season 2 episodes 6 &7. Yup, a two-parter. To give you the run down, Punky and her friends get lost in the woods during a camping trip and find a creepy cave with paintings that show them in danger. Weird and spooky stuff starts happening, and each friend faces their own scary situation. In the end, Punky uses her courage and smarts to help them escape and get back to safety. Sounds pretty innocent right? Hell no. These episodes traumatized the nation, some say even the whole world. Well, at least places that aired Punky Brewster.

These episodes featured giant spiders, evil spirits, floating heads, you name it. But the one image that took the cake was Allens’ mounted zombie head on the cave walls…I’m telling you, my life was never the same after seeing that sh*t.

The Thing (1982)

It was a typical movie night with my family. My dad had suggested we watch The Thing…
